Split a PDF into chapters

Most e-books, manuals and reports exported from Word or LaTeX contain bookmarks: the chapter list you see in a PDF reader’s sidebar. Each top-level bookmark becomes its own PDF, named after the chapter, so a 300-page manual turns into neatly labelled chapter files in one click.

Pages before the first chapter (cover, contents) are kept as “Front matter”. If the PDF has no bookmarks, use Custom ranges with the page numbers from the table of contents.

Private by design

Your file is processed by your own browser, in memory. It is never uploaded, stored or seen by anyone, and the page’s security policy blocks it from sending data to other servers.
