How to get a PDF under 100 KB

This tool is set to compress your PDF to 100 KB or less. It tries progressively stronger image compression and stops at the first result that fits, so you keep the best quality the limit allows.

100 KB is very small. It fits a few pages of text, or one or two scanned pages in grayscale at reduced resolution. Photos and colour scans need the Strong setting to get there.

As a rough guide, 100 KB holds about 4 pages of plain text, less than one grayscale pages scanned at 150 DPI, or less than one colour pages at 150 DPI.

Limits this tight are common on government, visa and exam application forms, and on job portals that ask for a CV or ID scan.

  • 100 KB = 0.10 MB (102,400 bytes).
  • Budget per page under 100 KB: about 20 KB for a 5-page file, 5 KB for 20 pages, 2 KB for 50 pages.
  • Text and vector graphics are never compressed, so they stay sharp.
  • If the limit can’t be reached, you’ll see how close it got. Try grayscale, or split the PDF and upload two parts.
  • The size shown is the real file size in your Downloads folder.

Private by design

Your file is processed by your own browser, in memory. It is never uploaded, stored or seen by anyone, and the page’s security policy blocks it from sending data to other servers.

Frequently asked questions

How do I reduce PDF size to 100 KB free?

Add your PDF. The target is already set to 100 KB; nothing to configure. Click Compress and download the smaller PDF. It is preset to get the file under 100 KB and shows the final size.

Can I get a 10-page scan under 100 KB?

It is tight: about 10 KB per page. Tick grayscale and expect the Strong level; if text becomes hard to read, split the document into two files.

Why is my PDF still over 100 KB?

Either the file has very large images that can’t shrink further without becoming unreadable, or it contains many pages of vector content and fonts, which this tool never degrades. Grayscale, or splitting the file, usually gets it under 100 KB.

How do I compress a PDF?

Add the PDF, choose a compression level (or a target size), then click Compress PDF. The result shows the before and after size.

Will compression make my PDF blurry?

Text and vector graphics are never touched, so they stay sharp. Only images are recompressed. Light keeps images close to the original; Strong is visibly softer on photos.

Why didn’t my PDF get much smaller?

PDFs made from text (exported from Word, for example) contain few images, so there is little to compress. Large savings come from scans and photos.
